Cayman Islands border to reopen, November 2021

At a Cayman Islands Government press briefing on Friday October 22nd, Premier Wayne Panton announced the news we’ve all been waiting to hear – the Cayman Islands border will reopen on Saturday, November 20th.

The welcome move will allow most fully vaccinated visitors to return to our beautiful islands without any quarantine requirements.

The news comes as the government’s 80% local vaccination target is close to being met. It’s expected this level will be reached before the borders reopen next month.

Although quarantine requirements are ending, several health measures will still be in force. All visitors will have to provide proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival and proof of a verifiable vaccine.

People arriving from countries with a minimum vaccination rate of 60%, such as the United States, will be able to verify their vaccines by submitting non-electronic documents from their healthcare providers, which will allow them to go straight to their hotel, condo, or home in the case of residents.

The new changes will not affect families travelling with unvaccinated children, who will still be required to quarantine for at least ten days.

Four airlines, British Airways, JetBlue, Air Canada and, Cayman Airways have confirmed their intention to resume their routes to the Cayman Islands.

Additional details of the reopening plan will be shared in the coming days.
