Summer in Cayman is looking bright!

Cayman Islands

Our borders have remained closed in response to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, preventing all international air and cruise travel since early March 2020. However, an eagerly awaited plan to reopen them, and safely welcome visitors back to our shores, was unveiled on Thursday 8th July by the Cayman Islands Government.

It’s a carefully planned, five-phase approach to reopening, which will allow international visitors to return and experience our beautiful islands again.

The reopening plan includes:

Phase 1: Reduced Quarantine Period | June 2021

Reduced quarantine periods and easing of other travel restrictions. For fully vaccinated and securely verified travellers, there is a mandatory five-day quarantine; unvaccinated travellers are required to isolate for 14 days.

Phase 2: Reduced Repatriation Restrictions | 9th August 2021

Additional travel restrictions will be eased, including the removal of GPS monitoring. Local businesses
must adhere to the advanced safety protocols issued by regulators and Caribbean Public Health Agency guidelines. All travellers must apply for entry authorization via the Travel Cayman Portal.

Phase 3: Limited Introduction of Tourism | 9th September 2021

This phase will allow for a limited introduction of tourists with secure verification of vaccination status. Cruise travel will not be permitted. All travellers must apply for entry via the Travel Cayman Portal.

Phase 4: Reduced Quarantine Restrictions | 14th October 2021

The quarantine period will no longer be necessary for all securely verified, fully vaccinated travellers. Unvaccinated visitors will be required to apply for entry via Travel Cayman and must quarantine for 14 days. All travellers must declare travel and their vaccination status on the Travel Cayman Portal.

Phase 5: Travel for Unvaccinated Children | 18th November 2021

Cruise tourism remains prohibited. Unvaccinated children (under age 12) will now be allowed to travel with vaccinated adult tourists (no quarantine period will be required for children). Unvaccinated visitors above the age of 12 will be required to quarantine for 14-days.

Welcome Back | Assessed 27th January 2022

Once all five phases and an assessment from the government and health officials has been completed, the Cayman Islands will celebrate its “Grand Re-Opening,” welcoming all travellers without quarantine or travel restrictions. At this time, cruise tourism may resume.
